Selected for the Extensible Toy Piano Festival (Clark University, Traina Center for the Arts, Worcester MA USA), this studio edit uses recordings of an improvised duo performance between Matthew Sansom (laptop, using toy piano samples and operating granular and generative MAX patches) and Rhodri Davies (harp with electronics, using harp samples). With the harp horizontal, and a 25cm speaker cone attached to the base of the harp, the laptop output was routed - simultaneously or alternately - to the harp's soundboard and to the external PA. Using contact microphones, the harpist was able to extend his own acoustic and sample-based palette with a recycling of the laptop's toy piano output, in effect realising a second toy piano.
